Key points
- No. Salesforce and HubSpot are building AI agents into their CRMs, and those agents search and update CRM records.
- Salesforce lists Agentforce at $2 per conversation, or $0.10 per action on Flex Credits. HubSpot lists Breeze Customer Agent at $0.50 per resolved conversation.
- Agents only work within the data and permissions you give them, so access settings matter before you switch one on.
- Prices, editions, and included credits can change, so confirm them with the vendor before you buy.
No, AI will not replace CRM. The vendors are building AI agents directly into their CRMs, where the agents act as autonomous workers and the CRM stays the database underneath. Salesforce lists Agentforce conversations at $2 each, and HubSpot lists Breeze Customer Agent at $0.50 per resolved conversation, as of October 2026.
That is our conclusion from how these products are built and priced, not a quote from either company. The sections below show what the documentation says, what it costs, and what to check first.
What does AI inside a CRM actually look like?
It looks like an agent that reads your customer records and then does work with them. Salesforce says Flex Credits pay for actions such as updating customer records, automating workflows, and resolving cases.
Each of those actions is performed on records stored in the CRM. The agent does the work, and the CRM holds what the work is about.
Salesforce's documentation for Agentforce Coworker says that when it is enabled, Salesforce CRM is the default searchable source. When a rep asks the AI a question, the first place it looks is the CRM.
How much does Salesforce Agentforce cost?
Salesforce offers Agentforce through consumption-based Flex Credits, Conversations, or per-user licensing. The numbers below come from Salesforce's Agentforce pricing help page.
| Pricing model | Listed price |
|---|---|
| Flex Credits | $500 per 100,000 credits |
| One agent action | 20 Flex Credits, or $0.10 |
| Conversations | $2 per conversation |
Here is an example for a small business. Say your agent runs 1,000 actions in a month. That is 20,000 credits, or $100 on Flex Credits.
Say it handles 300 customer conversations instead. At $2 each, that is $600. The right model depends on whether your agent does many small tasks or fewer, longer conversations.
Salesforce states that contract-specific pricing may require contacting an account executive. Your final price can differ from the list price.
What are Setup agent actions?
Salesforce orgs receive 500 free Setup agent actions per month across all users. That allowance applies to the Setup agent, so it does not cover the agents you run for customers.
What is Agentforce Coworker pricing?
Salesforce says Agentforce Coworker uses seat-based or usage-based pricing. Searching Salesforce CRM with Coworker does not consume Flex Credits or Data Services Credits for eligible authenticated users with seat-based pricing.
Guest, unauthenticated, and portal users are billed through usage-based pricing. If customers will talk to the agent through a portal, expect usage billing for those people.
How much does HubSpot Breeze Customer Agent cost?
HubSpot announced outcome-based pricing of $0.50 per resolved conversation for Breeze Customer Agent. You pay when the task is complete, so an unresolved conversation is not billed at that rate.
HubSpot says Breeze Customer Agent and Breeze Prospecting Agent are available to Pro and Enterprise customers and include a free 28-day trial.
HubSpot also describes a credits model. According to HubSpot's investor relations announcement, Pro customers get 3,000 monthly credits and Enterprise customers get 5,000 monthly credits for Breeze Customer Agent. Additional credits start at $10 per 1,000.
For example, if you needed 5,000 credits beyond your monthly allotment, the starting rate would be $50. Check which of the two models applies to your account.
| Item | Salesforce Agentforce | HubSpot Breeze Customer Agent |
|---|---|---|
| Per conversation | $2 (Conversations model) | $0.50 per resolved conversation |
| Credit-based | $500 per 100,000 Flex Credits | Extra credits from $10 per 1,000 |
| Included | 500 free Setup agent actions per month | 3,000 (Pro) or 5,000 (Enterprise) monthly credits |
Suppose both tools handled 300 conversations. Salesforce's per-conversation rate would give $600. If HubSpot resolved all 300, the outcome rate would give $150. The two products differ in edition, setup, and what counts as a conversation, so this is a rough comparison only.
What data access rules should you check before turning on an agent?
An agent works with the records and permissions you give it. These items appear in Salesforce's documentation:
- Assign the AI permission. Salesforce requires administrators to assign a user-based AI permission for the relevant seat-based setup.
- Check the Agent execution user. Agentforce setup includes checking whether the Agent execution user has Read permission for the relevant Data Space.
- Turn on Data 360 if you want usage reports. Salesforce requires Data 360 to be enabled to view Agentforce credit consumption in an org.
- Decide who can reach the agent. Guest, unauthenticated, and portal users are billed on usage, so know which of your customers will touch it.
This is not a full setup procedure. Your edition, licenses, connected data sources, and configuration decide the rest, so ask your vendor or admin for the full list.
Why does the AI need the CRM database?
In these products, the agent's work is tied to CRM records. Coworker searches Salesforce CRM first. Flex Credits pay for updating customer records and resolving cases. Agent setup checks whether the agent can read the data it needs.
If your records are incomplete or scattered, an agent connected to them has less to work with. That is a practical reading of how these tools are built. The vendor excerpts do not claim that every AI model or application requires a CRM.
Read our page on what a CRM does to see which records an agent would draw on.
Will AI replace the people who work in sales and service?
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics gives a mixed picture in its 2024 to 2034 employment projections:
- Customer service representative employment is projected to decline by 5.5 percent.
- Employment for sales representatives of services, excluding several specified industries, is projected to increase by 3.1 percent.
- BLS says AI can summarize sales calls, analyze their content, recommend next steps, assist with prospecting and scoring, research prospects and competitors, draft emails, create presentations, and develop sales proposals.
These figures describe occupations in general. They do not say AI will eliminate CRM jobs or replace Salesforce CRM.
Should you delay buying a CRM because of AI?
The pricing pages suggest delaying gains you little. Agents are sold as add-ons to a CRM edition, and HubSpot lists Breeze Customer Agent for Pro and Enterprise customers. If you have no CRM, you have no record system for an agent to read or update.
Use this checklist to decide:
- List the work you want an agent to do, such as answering questions or updating records.
- Estimate monthly volume. Use 300 conversations as a starting guess if you have no data.
- Price it both ways. At 300 conversations, $2 each is $600 and $0.50 each is $150, before checking edition fees.
- Ask the vendor about edition, licenses, and contract pricing.
- Use the free HubSpot 28-day trial to test before you commit.
If you are comparing systems, our guide to the four types of CRM and our page on AI in a CRM explain the options. You can also see all 18 CRMs compared.
All prices above are as of October 2026 and can change. Confirm them with the vendor before you buy.
Common questions
Can AI replace Salesforce CRM?
Salesforce is adding AI to its CRM instead. Agentforce Coworker uses Salesforce CRM as its default searchable source, and Flex Credits pay for actions like updating customer records and resolving cases.
Will CRM jobs be replaced by AI?
The BLS projects customer service representative employment to decline 5.5 percent from 2024 to 2034, and sales representatives of services to grow 3.1 percent. Those are occupation projections and do not establish that AI will eliminate CRM jobs.
What is the future of CRM?
Based on current vendor products, the CRM stays as the database while AI agents take on tasks inside it. Salesforce prices those tasks at $0.10 per action or $2 per conversation, and HubSpot at $0.50 per resolved conversation.
How will AI change CRM?
AI changes who does the routine work. BLS says AI can summarize sales calls, recommend next steps, assist with prospecting and scoring, and draft emails.
Is CRM going to be replaced by AI for customer service?
Vendors are placing AI agents inside the CRM for customer service. HubSpot's Breeze Customer Agent is $0.50 per resolved conversation, and Salesforce lists $2 per Agentforce conversation under its Conversations model.
